Have You Heard of Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA)?

Traditional Medical / Chiropractic Care has helped millions of people suffering from neck, back, muscle, joint, chronic pain, and extremity pain. I personally have provided Chiropractic treatment for the past 12 years with excellent outcomes. Nonetheless, there are always a percentage of patients that do not achieve the expected outcome. There are also the patients that enter my office with chronic pain and lack of mobility. Not long ago I would have referred these patients with chronic pain, or patients with have reached a plateau with their traditional forms of treatment, to various other health care providers. Fortunately, I am now able to provide a procedure that has been proven to be safe, effective, and productive. The procedure is known as Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA). Here are a few common questions.

What is Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA)?
MUA is a non-invasive, highly specialized technique performed by specially trained Chiropractic Physicians. After medical clearance, the patient undergoes light sedation to achieve a state of relaxation. The state of relaxation allows the doctor to complete a series of adjustments and stretching movements without patient apprehension or muscle resistance. The results for properly selected patients are phenomenal.

How does the MUA work?
MUA achieves results because if allows your caregiver to adjust the bones, joints, and muscles without the usual resistance.  Sedation will decrease any apprehension or resistance. Adjustments are completed gently, fibrotic adhesions / scar tissue which limit range of motion, decreases joint function and contribute to pain, are altered. Muscles are stretched and collagen fibers are remodeled to eliminate or reduce restriction. The results are pain and discomfort are decreased or eliminated.

Is MUA a new procedure?
MUA has been practiced sine the late 1930s and used by Osteopathic Physicians and Orthopedic Surgeons for many years as a proven form of treatments for several chronic pain conditions. During the past several years, the use of MUA has greatly increased, thanks to tremendous advances in both the technique and in anesthesiology. Today MUA is a multi-disciplinary outpatient procedure that takes place in a medical setting with a team of physicians. Case studies continue to show that MUA is safe and effective.

Who can benefit from MUA?
MUA can be an effective procedure for people with chronic neck, back, muscle, nerve and joint pain/problems. It is effective for people with conditions causes by long-term disabilities or accidents, and for injuries that have been responsive to conventional treatment. Here are a few of the conditions that MUA helps:
Disc herniations and disc bulges
Chronic pain
Headaches
Muscle spasms and pain
Fibromyalgia
Back surgery
Shoulder pain and frozen shoulder syndrome
Nerve pain and radiculopathy
Fibro-adhesion buildup
TMJ and joint pain

MUA is a safe, non-invasive procedure that could give you your life back.
